Dubai Knowledge Village Conducts H1NI Influenza Awareness Session in Partnership with Dubai Health Authority

Dubai Knowledge Village (DKV), the region’s premier destination for human resources management and a member of TECOM Investments, today announced its awareness session on swine flu, organised in partnership with Dubai Health Authority, informed attendees about the national plan for combating the H1N1 virus.

Held at the DKV Conference Centre, the session came as part of the cluster’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative and was attended by employees of DKV and its business partners. Dr. Hassan HM Shurie, Consultant and Head of Technical Services, Medical Fitness Centers, and member of National Committee for Swine Flu, Dubai Health Authority, led the session and offered valuable advice to individuals on the prevention and treatment of the viral disease.

Swine flu is a respiratory illness caused by type A (H1N1) influenza virus that has originated from pigs. Though the virus does not  normally infect humans, it spreads through human infections and is contagious. On 11 June, the new strain of H1N1 was declared to be a global pandemic (stage 6) by the World Health Organization.
