Earth hour

TECOM Investments became one of the first organizations in the Middle East to register and participate in the Earth Hour, a global event created to bring all mankind together to fight climate change. This initiative was led by Mr. Abdullatif AlMulla (Group CEO), one of the first to register for this event. Brands who took active part in the Earth Hour initiative included Dubai Internet City, Dubai International Academic City, Dubai Knowledge Village, Dubai Media City, Dubai Outsource Zone and Dubai Studio City. Common area lights, brand signage and parking lot lights were all turned off at the office buildings from 8:00 pm to 9:00 pm. Not only did our employees switch off office lights, some also participated from home by turning off their lights and non-critical appliances, encouraging friends and family to do the same. World No Tobacco day

DIAC observes World No Tobacco Day on May 31st of every year. It is meant to encourage a 24-hour period of abstinence from all forms of tobacco consumption. The day is further intended to draw global attention to the widespread prevalence of tobacco use and to negative health effects, which currently lead to millions of deaths worldwide annually.

World Environment Day

A day that stimulates awareness of the environment and enhances political attention and public action. It is on 5th of June. DIAC contributed to World Environmental Day by switching off the lights for 1 hour in the evening (between 8PM & 9PM).

Plant a Tree Campaign ( on the occasion of World Environment Day)

Clean up the world campaign

Keeping in line with TECOM Investment’s value – Environmental and Social Responsibility,  Dubai Knowledge Village (DKV)  participated in the ‘Clean up the World’ campaign, which was conducted in Dubai in November 2010.

As a part of the campaign, DKV, DIAC and their Business Partner employees, cleaned pre-identified areas in Dubai Knowledge Village.
As a  token of appreciation from  Dubai Municipality, DKV received a certificate of appreciation from them.

Dubai Autism Center

Under the corporate and social responsibility programme, Dubai Knowledge Village as well as Dubai International Academic City, provided on-going support to the humanitarian initiatives carried out by Dubai Autism Center. The services provided by the center include highlighting proactive measures in dealing with autism and those individuals affected by the condition.

TECOM Investments’ Education Cluster, which operates Dubai Knowledge Village and Dubai International Academic City, was recently honoured by Dubai Autism Center, the largest and most comprehensive non-profit organisation in the UAE, for providing consistent support to its community outreach programmes.

Blood Donation

TECOM Investments holds several blood donation drives every year. DIAC participated for the first time in 2009 along with its staff members and BPs from other clusters such as DIC, DMC, DKV.

Operation R Recycling Programme

As part of its efforts to conserve the environment and provide its Business Partners with value added service, Dubai Knowledge Village (DKV) with the support of Sustainable Energy and Environment Division, launched the new LEED compliant waste management pilot “TECOM Investments Operation R”.

World Water Day

The objective of World Water Day 2011 is to focus international attention on the impact of rapid urban population growth, industrialization and uncertainties caused by climate change, conflicts and natural disasters on urban water systems. This year’s theme, Water for cities: responding to the urban challenge, aims to spotlight and encourage governments, organisations, communities, and individuals to actively engage in addressing the defy of urban water management.DKV and DIAC  celebrated World Water Day this year on 22 March 2011.

WORLD Health Day

DKV and DIAC  participated in this year's World Health Day which took  place on 7 April 2011. The World Health Organization will launch a worldwide campaign to safeguard breakthrough medicines for future generations. Antimicrobial resistance and its global spread threaten the continued effectiveness of many medicines used today to treat the sick, while at the same time it risks jeopardizing important advances being made against major infectious killers.
